Menstrual health and Hygiene program

MENSTRUAL HEALTH AND HYGIENE PROGRAM

The Menstrual Health and Hygiene Program is a flagship initiative dedicated to keeping girls in school by providing them with reusable sanitary pads, manufactured locally at the Binti Workshop. By eliminating menstrual-related school absenteeism, this program ensures that girls have a fair chance at education and a brighter future.

Beyond Pads: Education and Awareness

In addition to distributing reusable sanitary kits, the program educates girls on reproductive health, personal hygiene, anatomy, and their rights. We also teach them how to make reusable pads with readily available materials, fostering sustainability and self-reliance. Boys are included in discussions on menstrual health to challenge taboos and encourage community-wide support for gender equality.

Why Reusable Sanitary Towels?

Reusable sanitary pads offer a long-term, cost-effective solution, lasting up to three years. Made from hypoallergenic cotton, they reduce cramps, infections, and skin rashes associated with unhygenic alternatives. Locally produced, they create employment for women and contribute to environmental sustainability, as cotton decomposes in 6 to 12 months, unlike plastic pads that take centuries.
